Each battery technology possesses intrinsic advantages and disadvantages, e.g., nickel–metal hydride (MH) batteries offer relatively high specific energy power as well safety, making them the of choice for hybrid electric vehicles, whereas aqueous organic flow (AORFBs) sustainability, simple replacement their active materials independent scalability power, very attractive stationary storage. Herein, a new that merges above mentioned technologies through use redox-mediated reactions is proposed intrinsically main features each separate technology, density solid materials, easy recyclability, power. To achieve this, Ni(OH)2 MHs are confined in positive negative reservoirs an AORFB employs alkaline solutions potassium ferrocyanide mixture 2,6-dihydroxyanthraquinone 7,8-dihydroxyphenazine-2-sulfonic acid catholyte anolyte, respectively. An 128 Wh L–1 achieved based on capacity leaving ample room improvement up to theoretical limit 378 L–1. This opens market opportunities never before envisaged, redox batteries, domestic storage heavy-duty vehicle transportation.
